문화성향에 따라 자기고양 편향이 주관적 안녕감에 미치는 영향

초록

개인이 속한 문화의 가치를 자기고양하는 것은 자존감을 높여 행복감을 증진시키는 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 연구는 집단주의 문화라고 알려져 있는 우리나라 문화에서 개인주의 문화와 집단주의 문화에서 중요시하는 가치를 자기고양하는 것이 개인의 자존감과 주관적 안녕감에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 자기고양(능력, 개체성, 배려성)이 자존감을 매개로 주관적 안녕감에 영향을 미친다는 모형을 설정하고 대학생 865명을 대상으로 검증하였다. 그 결과 전체 집단을 대상으로 한 모형은 자료에 부합하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 따라 개인주의 성향이 강한 집단과 집단주의 성향이 강한 집단을 나누어 검증해 보았다. 그 결과 개인주의 성향이 강한 집단의 경우에는 개체성에서 그리고 집단주의 성향이 강한 집단의 경우에는 능력과 배려성에서 자존감을 매개로 주관적 안녕감에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이 결과에 대해 논의하였다.

Abstract

It has been known that the self enhancement of the values of his/her heighten the self esteem which leads the personal happiness. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of self enhancement of the superiority on abilities, independent traits, and interdependent traits on the self esteem and subjective well-being in our culture known as collectivistic culture. It was hypothesized that the superiority on abilities, independent traits and interdependent traits had effects on the subjective well-being in the mediation of self esteem. This model was tested on the data from 865 college students (male 434, female 427). The result revealed that the model did not fit the data. However, independent traits in the case of the individual group, and interdependent traits and the superiority on abilities in the case of collectivistic group had effects on the subjective well-being` in the mediation of self esteem. This results was discussed.
