Abstract

This study presents how Wilber's Integral Psychotherapy addresses key issues raised in the process of psychotherapy integration and its theoretical framework, which are now widely discussed and researched in the psychotherapy practice and academia. It also reviews what measures would be necessary to enable the Integral Psychotherapy to be a more accountable and applicable in the practice. Wilber's Integral Theory is a meta theory encompassing and composing all the theories and practices of psychotherapy in harmony, while providing powerful features and elements to meet the complicate requirements of psychotherapy integration. One of them is the spectrum model of human consciousness across all development levels and corresponding pathology and treatment spectrum. AQAL model, the core theoretical foundation, consisting of five essential components (quadrants, level, line, state, type) is a practical tool for psychotherapy integration from various perspectives. In practice, Integral Psychotherapy pursues the development of awareness and spiritual awakening even beyond the boundary of self as well as self-realization like the other psychotherapies, but it also does not overlook the importance of therapeutic objective in practice of helping a client function in healthy condition according to his/her developmental level at the moment. In addition, it emphasizes the accurate and comprehensive diagnosis for the optimal therapeutic intervention with the differential understanding of various types of pain from the whole viewpoint. Futher, Integral Psychotherapy is an another form of practice by itself and one of its notable feature is that it seamlessly combines Integral Transformative Practice into its core elements, which clients can practice in daily life.
