남녀 청소년의 학교스트레스와 우울의 관계: 완벽주의와 자기존중감의 매개효과 및 성별차이 검증

본 연구는 남녀 청소년을 대상으로 학교스트레스와 우울의 관계에서 완벽주의와 자기존중감의 매개효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 또한, 성별에 따라 집단 간 모형에 차이가 있는지를 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 D시의 중고등학생 724명(남 328명, 여 396명)을 대상으로 학교스트레스 척도, 완벽주의 척도, 자기존중감 척도 및 우울 척도로 구성된 설문을 실시하였고, 각 변인들이 우울에 미치는 직접적인 경로와 간접적인 경로를 설정하였다. 분석결과, 전체 청소년 집단에 적합한 매개모형은 남녀 청소년집단에 동일하게 적용될 수 없는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 성별에 따라 매개경로에 차이가 있었기 때문에 남녀 집단별로 각각 구조모형을 검증하였다. 그 결과 여학생의 경우, 학교스트레스가 우울에 직접 영향을 미치면서 완벽주의와 자기존중감을 통해서 간접적으로 영향을 미치는 부분매개모형이 가장 적합한 모형으로 밝혀졌다. 남학생의 경우, 학교스트레스가 우울에 미치는 경로는 유의하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 따라서, 완벽주의와 자기존중감이 학교스트레스와 우울의 관계를 간접적으로 매개하는 완전매개모형이 가장 적합한 모형으로 밝혀졌다. 본 연구는 학교스트레스와 완벽주의, 자기존중감이 우울에 영향을 미치는 경로에서 성별에 따른 차이를 확인하였다는 데 의의가 있다. 본 연구의 결과는 학교생활과 관련된 스트레스로 인해 우울을 경험하는 청소년을 조력하는 데 있어 성별에 따라 차별화된 개입이 필요하고, 지각된 스트레스 수준을 낮추는 개입과 더불어 완벽주의와 자기존중감에 초점을 두어 개입할 때 더욱 효과적일 수 있음을 시사한다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of perfectionism and self-esteem in the relationship between school-related stress and depression in adolescents. The study also examined if there was any differences in mediating model according to gender. The subjects were 724 boys and girls from middle & high school in Daegu. Data were collected through self-report questionnaires, consisting of Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale(MPS), Self-esteem Scale, School-related Stress Scale & Depression Scale(CDI). The data were analyzed by Pearson correlational analysis, and mediating model analysis and multiple group analysis were carried out using SEM(Structural Equation Model) techniques in SPSS/WIN & AMOS program. The findings are as follows. First, it was found that perfectionism mediated in the relation between school-related stress and depression in adolescents. Second, it was also found that self-esteem mediated in the relation between school-related stress and depression in adolescents. Third, the results showed that there was a significant difference between male group and female group in mediating model. As for the girls, perfectionism & self-esteem partially mediated in the relation between school-related stress and depression. That is, the path between school-related stress and depression was statistically significant in girls. A partially mediated model was chosen as it showed a better fit than any other models. As for the boys, it was found that perfectionism & self-esteem fully mediated in the relation between school-related stress and depression. That is, the path between school-related stress and depression was not statistically significant. A fully mediated model was chosen as it showed a better fit than other models. Implications for therapeutic intervention and suggestions for future studies were discussed.
