Abstract

The present study examined the Korean working mothers’ work-family conflict(WFC) and enhancement(WFE) experiences. First, we examined the relationship of WFC and WFE, and examined the relationships of individual characteristics(personality, coping and physical resources) and social support(spouse support and employer support) with WFC and WFE. Results showed that WFC and WFE was negatively related, but the correlation was very mild. The variables significantly related with WFC were reactive strategy, neuroticism, openness, spouse and employer support, and education level and income. On the contrary, reflective strategy, neuroticism, openness, and spouse and employer support were found significantly related with WFE. We suggested directions for future studies and counseling intervention for working mothers in Korea.
