본 연구는 초심상담자들이 자기문제를 만나고 이해하고 극복하는 부분에서 핵심적인 경험과 과정을 설명하는 실체이론을 개발하였다. 이를 위해 초심상담자 9명을 대상으로 심층면접을 실시하였고 근거이론방법을 사용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과, 235개의 개념과 69개의 하위범주, 21개의 범주가 도출되었으며 ‘보고 싶지 않은 나와 대면하여 막다른 지경에 몰림’이라는 중심현상이 나타나는 패러다임모형이 도출되었다. 핵심범주는 ‘해결되지 않은 나를 만나 수용과 변화를 경험하면서 더 나은 성장의 길을 향해 나아감’으로 밝혀졌다. 초심상담자들이 자기문제를 이해하고 극복하는 과정은 ‘드러나서 나와 맞닥뜨리는 단계’, ‘작업 단계’, ‘몰입하지 못하고 맴도는 단계’, ‘수용과 변화를 체험하는 단계’, ‘나를 만나고 받아들이는 단계’, ‘나로서, 상담자로서 성장하는 단계’로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과를 토대로 초심상담자들의 자기문제이해 및 극복과정에 대한 논의와 후속연구에 대한 제언을 하였다. 본 연구는 초심상담자의 개인적 성장뿐만 아니라 상담자로서 전문성 발달에 함의를 제공했다는 면에서 의의가 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to propose a substantial theory which can describe core experience and process in understanding and overcoming of novice counselors' self problems. This study conducted an in-depth interviews of a total nine novice counselors. The collected data were analyzed using a grounded theory approach. 235 concepts, 69 sub-categories and 21 categories were derived from research result. Also, the paradigm model of central phenomenon was revealed as ‘Encountering self which cannot be admitted and thus bumping into dead end’. The core category was ‘to head for the better path of growth by experiencing acceptance and change of unsolved self’. The process in understanding and overcoming of novice counselors' self problems was ‘the stage of revealing and confronting at self’, ‘the stage of working’, ‘the stage of not immersing and hovering’, ‘the stage of going through acceptance and change’, ‘the stage of meeting and accepting at self’ and ‘the stage of growing as self and counselor’. Based on this result, we provide discussion and suggestions for future researches about novice counselor' growth. This finding has significance on providing not only individual growth, but also development of expertise in counseling.
