본 연구의 목적은 쉼터 거주 결혼이주여성들이 체험하고 있는 임파워먼트 경험을 이해하고, 그 체험의 본질을 심층적으로 탐색하고자 하는 것이다. 이러한 목적을 위해 경기도 A 쉼터에 거주하는 결혼이주여성 10명을 대상으로 심층면접을 실시하여 자료를 수집하고, Giorgi의 분석방법을 적용하여 “쉼터거주 결혼이주여성의 임파워먼트 경험의 본질은 무엇인가”에 대한 현상학적 자료분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구 결과, 쉼터거주 결혼이주여성의 임파워먼트 경험에 대한 81개의 의미단위 요약, 23개의 하위 구성요소, 7가지 구성요소를 추출하였고, 이를 바탕으로 쉼터거주 결혼이주여성의 임파워먼트 경험의 본질을 ‘주체적인 삶을 향한 기나긴 여정’으로 정리하였다. 이러한 본 연구 결과는 쉼터거주 결혼이주여성을 위한 상담 개입을 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
This study was conducted to understand the meanings and nature of the empowerment experience of married immigrant women staying in shelter. Data were collected from 10 married immigrant women staying in shelter through the in-depth interview. An in-depth interview was held individually with the question, “What is the nature of the empowerment experience of married immigrant women staying in shelter?” The process of data analysis was carried out in accordance with the procedures set out in the phenomenological Giorgi’s method. The data were analyzed into 81 meaning units, 23 sub-constituents, 7 constituents. Based on this experience, this study summarized the essence of the empowerment of married immigrant women staying in shelter as 'a long journey to subjective life'. The result of this study can be utilized as a basis for the counseling intervention for married immigrant women staying in shelter.
