이주배경 청소년에 관한 질적 연구 동향: 국내 및 북미 학술지 게재 논문 분석(2003-2015)

초록

본 연구의 목적은 2003-2015년 중 국내 및 북미 학술지에 게재된 이주배경 청소년 관련 질적 연구의 연구 동향을 분석하여 제시하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 총 78편의 학술지 논문을 국내와 북미로 구분하여 발표 연대, 학술지의 학문 분야, 연구 대상, 연구 접근법, 신뢰도와 타당도, 연구 주제를 분석하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 국내 및 북미 이주배경 청소년 관련 질적 연구는 2008년 이후 급속하게 증가한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 국내에서는 중도입국 청소년과 북한이탈 청소년이, 국외에서는 이주배경 청소년 일반이 주요 연구 대상이었다. 셋째, 국내는 사례연구, CQR, 근거이론 접근, 현상학 등 연구 접근법이 비교적 고루 분포된 반면 북미 연구는 CQR과 근거이론 접근에 집중된 경향이 나타났다. 넷째, CQR과 근거이론 접근 비중이 높은 북미 연구는 연구자, 면접자, 평정자의 역할 분리나 외부 감사자의 감수를 통해 신뢰도 및 타당도를 확보하는 방법을 보다 빈번하게 적용하였다. 다섯째, 국내 연구의 주제는 적응 양상 및 과정에 집중되었고, 북미 연구의 주제는 사회적 관계, 진로와 경력 등 보다 다양하게 분포되었다. 본 연구는 다양한 질적 연구 접근법의 활용 및 이주배경 청소년 관련 질적 연구 주제 확대를 위한 학술적 논의의 토대를 마련하였다는 점에서 의의를 갖는다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze qualitative studies of immigrant youths in domestic and North American scholarly journals published from 2003 to 2015. A total of 78 studies from domestic and North American journals were analyzed for the years of publication, academic fields, types of immigrant youth studied, qualitative approaches used, reliability and validity, and themes. The findings are as follows: (a) the number of studies has steadily increased since 2008; (b) North Korean migrant youth and youth migrated into Korea from countries of their origin drew particular attention in South Korea while immigrant youth in general were most heavily studied overseas; (c) the choice of qualitative approaches were fairly evenly distributed for the studies conducted in Korea while studies published overseas tended to opt for CQR and grounded theory research; (d) many studies published overseas separated the roles of authors, interviewers, and raters and/or used independent auditors to secure reliability and validity; (e) acculturation and school life were the most salient theme for the studies published domestically while social support, vocational behavior, and counseling process and programs were among topics of emphasis for those published internationally. The significance of this analysis lies in laying the groundwork for further academic discourse for using qualitative approaches suitable for studies of immigrant youth.
