본 연구에서는 유성애 성소수자들이 커밍아웃 후 경험하는 성장을 측정하는 커밍아웃 후 성장 척도(Coming Out Growth Scale: COGS)를 한국어로 번안하고 타당화하였다. 이를 위해 유성애 성소수자 성인 499명을 대상으로 온라인 설문을 진행한 후, 무선적으로 두 표본으로 추출해 첫 표본(200명)을 대상으로 탐색적 요인분석과 신뢰도 분석을 실시하였고, 두 번째 표본(299명)을 대상으로 확인적 요인분석과 타당도 분석을 실시하였다. 먼저, 탐색적 요인분석과 확인적 요인분석을 실시한 결과, 원척도와 동일하게 2개의 요인(개인적․대인적 성장, 사회적 성장)이 적절한 것으로 나타났다. 또한 한국판 커밍아웃 후 성장 척도(The Korean Version of the Coming out Growth Scale: K-COGS)의 내적 신뢰도, 수렴타당도, 준거타당도도 모두 양호한 것으로 확인되었다. K-COGS는 드러내기 척도, 외상 및 스트레스 관련 성장 척도 그리고 삶의 만족도와 유의한 정적 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로, 본 연구의 의의 및 한계점, K-COGS의 활용과 후속 연구에 대한 제언을 제시하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to translate and validate the Coming Out Growth Scale (COGS), which measures growth after coming out among allosexual sexual minorities in Korea. An online survey was conducted with 499 allosexual sexual minority adults, and the sample was randomly divided into two groups. The first sample (200 participants) was used for exploratory factor analysis and reliability analysis, while the second sample (299 participants) for confirmatory factor analysis and validity testing. The findings supported a two-factor structure (‘personal․interpersonal growth’ and ‘social growth’), consistent with the original scale. In addition, it was confirmed that the internal reliability, convergent validity, and criterion validity of Korean version of the Coming Out Growth Scale (K-COGS) were all good. K-COGS scores had significant positive correlations with the Disclosure Scale, Posttraumatic Growth Inventory, and Life Satisfaction Scale. Finally, we discussed the implications and limitations of this study, along with suggestions for practical application of K-COGS and directions for future research.
