『石潭日記』의 역사의식과 서술방법

『석담일기』는 율곡 이이가 나름의 목적의식을 가지고 당대(當代)의 역사를 『실록』수준으로 정리한 역사서이며, 아울러 도덕사회를 지향하고 경세의 요법(要法)을 담은 것이라 할 수 있다. 『석담일기』는 율곡의 역사의식, 경세관, 우국애민(憂國愛民)의 정신 등을 살피는 데 중요하지만 ‘경세서’라는 데서 그 의의를 찾아야 한다. 율곡 자신의 학문과 사상, 나아가 정치적 이념과 경세에 대한 비전 등을 종합적으로 담아 서술한 경세서이기 때문이다. 『석담일기』는 율곡 자신의 경세론, 경세사상을 구체적 사건과 인물을 통해 입체적으로 서술하여 후세에 알리는 데 저술의 목적이 있다. 율곡은 실제로 자신의 학문관, 시국관, 경세관 등을 당시의 구체적 사건과 인물을 중심으로 응용, 서술하는 방식을 취하였다. 이 글은 『석담일기』의 역사의식과 서술방법에 논의를 집중하여 『석담일기』의 성격을 보다 분명하게 드러내는 데 주안을 두었다.
Abstract
Seokdamilgi is a history book on which Yul Gok Lee Yi recorded the history of his time at the level of true record with his own sense of purpose. In addition, it contains his will toward a moral society and his solutions for governing. This book is important in looking into his historical consciousness, viewpoint of governing and spirit of worrying about the nation with love on the people. Its meaning should be, however, found in the point that it is 'a book for governing'. For, this book for governing is to comprehensively show and describe his own learning and idea, furthermore, his political idea and vision about governing. It was written for the purpose to intensively describe his own theory and idea of governing through real cases and figures and let the next generations know such theory and idea. He actually took the way to apply and describe his viewpoint of learning, current issues, governing and etc focusing on the real cases and figures of his time. This article centers on his historical consciousness and description method shown on Seokdamilgi aiming to show its characteristics more clearly.
