Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the mediating effect of job crafting in the relationship between performance pressure, employee growth climate, and work engagement based on job demands and resources theory. We collected 394 employees in large and medium-sized companies in South Korea. The results showed that increasing structural job resources and increasing challenging job demands had positive effect on work engagement; performance pressure and employee growth climate had positive effect on job crafting; and increasing structural job resources and increasing challenging job demands mediated the relationships between performance pressure, employee growth climate, and work engagement. Based on the findings, we discussed theoretical and practical implications from the perspective of human resource development.
