Abstract
This study investigated the efficacy of corrective feedback among Arabic learners’ with two different feedback: direct feedback only, direct feedback with meta-linguistic explanation. After the experiment, it is found that high level Arabic learners’ grammatical accuracy with receiving direct feedback have more improved than the group of the direct feedback with meta-linguistic group. Conversely, by looking at mid-level of Arabic learners’ group, it is shown that their grammatical accuracy developed more, after they received the direct feedback with meta-linguistic explanation. From those experiments, it can be concluded that high level Arabic learners will benefit from receiving direct feedback without meta-linguistic explanation. Having considered intermediate level students, since they lack of grammatical knowledge compared to the high level of learners, intermediate level learners will be able to write accurately if they receive direct feedback with meta-linguistic explanation. Furthermore, the short survey about preferences of corrective feedback proves that high level learners prefer direct feedback only whereas intermediate level learners are in favor of receiving more specific feedback such as meta linguistic explanation.
