Abstract
“Eurasia,” in which Russia and China are at the center, has recently become the political and economic epicenter of international news, not only practically but also at a discourse level. However, the more Eurasia is mentioned in the news, the more its cultural complexity and diversity, which consists of more than 90 countries, will inevitably be diluted. However, if Eurasia is only viewed from a politico-economic perspective, such as through a trans-nationalist lens and considering Russia’s “Greater Eurasia” and China’s “One Belt, One Road” policies, it is no different from the “cultural disaster” that Eurasian neighbors have to deal with. Culture refers to the unique heritage of a particular community that is inherited and maintained from generation to generation in the respective countries. This is why it is important for the neighboring countries of Eurasia to protect their own culture from global hegemony. When a culture is deterritorialized, the associated national identity is proportionately diluted. Following Eurocentrism and Americanism, Russia and China continue to pass the baton and regard Eurasia as their economic preys. The problem is that none of these countries is attentively considering the Eurasian cultural rights. Therefore, in this paper, I suggest that it is necessary to reconsider “Eurasian Culture” from a glocal point of view. The “glocal’s perspective” calls for a reboot of the economies of hegemonized countries while incorporating an understanding of cultural diversity. Further, when all local Eurasian countries choose to safeguard their cultural uniqueness and specificity from the threat of the commercialization of world and the globalization of goods, we can call it “cultural diversity” in the true sense of the term. The glocal’s perspective involves that the victim countries of the hegemony take the center stage to protect their cultural rights and prioritize true cultural exchanges over political and economic cooperation and partnerships. Only when the “localobalization” of cultures becomes the epistemology and ontology of Eurasian cultures will Eurasia no longer be a hotbed for political and economic disputes but a place of peace and a repository of human culture.
