사르트르의 “서약”개념에 대한 사회존재론적 연구

본 논문은 사르트르의 “서약(serment)”개념을 공동체적 타자관계에 중심을 두고 시의적으로 해석하는 것을 목표로 한다. “서약”은 공동체의 유지와 발전에 대한 사르트르의 현상학적 분석 과정에서 등장하는 개념이다. 사르트르는 공동체를 단순히 개인들의 연합으로서가 아니라 개별적인 실존의 살아있는 자발성에 기인하여 생성하고 변화하며 약동하는 집단으로 해석한다. 그리고 이러한 집단의 상존성을 보장하기 위해 등장하는 “서약”을 통해 매우 구체적이고 직접적인 타자관계의 유형들과 소통의 구조를 해명한다. 집단 내부의 실존들이 자발적으로 자유를 제한하는 하나의 실천으로서 “서약”은 그 내부에 여전히 집단의 와해 위험을 안고 있지만, 동시에 그러한 위험을 통제해 나가는 형태로 집단을 유지시킨다. 이렇게 유지되는 집단은 하나의 상호성으로서 나와 타자를 매개한다. 이처럼 “서약”에는 다양한 사회존재론적 의미들이 함축되어 있다. 본 논문에서는 “서약” 개념의 분석을 공동체 안의 실존에 관한 존재론적 물음으로 연결하여 해석하고자 한다.
Abstract
This paper aims to promptly interpret Sartre's concept of “serment”, focusing on the community relationship with others. “serment” is a concept noted in Sartre's phenomenological analysis of community maintenance and development. Sartre interprets the community not simply as a union of individuals, but as a group that generates, changes, and weakens due to individual existential spontaneity; what is required to ensure the survival of these groups is a “serment”. It contains precise types of relationships and communication structures associated with actual human life and living with others. As the practice of voluntarily limiting freedom by the people in the group, “serment” still risks the group's collapse, but at the same time maintains the group in the form of controlling such risks. Thus, the group mediates the self and the other reciprocally. “serment” implies a variety of existential social questions. For this reason, in this paper, we wish to interpret the analysis of the concept of “serment” by linking it to an ontological question about existence within the community.
