본 연구는 김녹촌 동시에서 공간과 인간 상호작용을 통해 장소성이 형성되는 방식과 그 상실로 인한 무장소성 문제를 분석하였다. 기존 연구는 동시를 시골과 도시, 전통과 현대의 대립적 구조로 해석하였으나, 본 연구는 에드워드 렐프의 장소성과 무장소성 개념을 도입하여 공간과 인간의 상호작용이 감성적 유대와 정체성을 어떻게 창출하고 소멸하는지를 고찰하였다. 그 결과 그의 동시에서 공간이 인간과 긍정적 관계를 맺음으로써 고유 정체성을 담은 장소성을 획득하거나, 정서적 유대를 잃음으로써 장소성을 상실하는 무장소성이 나타나는 특징성을 확인하였다. 이는 전통과 현대, 시골과 도시의 대립을 넘어 공간과 인간의 관계에서 의미가 창출됨을 시사하며, 공간적 맥락에서 장소성과 무장소성 문제를 재조명할 필요성을 제시한다.
Abstract
This study examines the formation of a sense of place through the interaction between space and human experience in Kim Nokchon's poetry and analyzes the issue of placelessness resulting from its loss. While previous studies have interpreted his work within the dichotomy of rural versus urban and tradition versus modernity, this research introduces Edward Relph’s concepts of place and placelessness to investigate how spatial-human interactions create and dissipate emotional bonds and identity. The analysis reveals that the warmth of rural environments, along with long-standing memories shared among family and neighbors, and the natural landscape, collectively constitute a unique sense of place imbued with intrinsic identity. In contrast, the cold, mechanistic urban spaces tend to function merely as utilitarian backdrops, weakening emotional connections among individuals. These findings suggest that Kim Nokchon's poetry transcends a simple binary opposition between tradition and modernity or rural and urban settings, emphasizing instead the dynamic process through which meaning is generated within the interplay of space and human relationships. This study highlights the need to reexamine issues of place and placelessness within their spatial contexts.
