Abstract

This research aimed to develop a simplified-type Rating Scale of Korean Traditional dance in order to differentiate performance levels of a number of dancers in a short period of time. To achieve the research aim, the researcher asked 56 dance experts to select 6 out of 22 questions on the basis of the relative importance of the questions and whether it was possible to evaluate dancers in 1~2 minutes. In the process, the researcher developed the simplified-type evaluation measure consisting of 6 questions. The appropriateness of the evaluation measure was tested by applying it to evaluate 255 dancers. And, content validity ratios (CVR) of them were examined to test the validity of 6 questions. It was found that the process of Korean dance performance level could be properly assessed by the six questions. Therefore, the six questions were chosen on the basis of relative importance of the existing 22 questions. Internal fitness indices of six questions ranged from 0.8 to 1.1, was proving that they were appropriate to the model to evaluate Korean dance performance level.
