복제의 시대, 자본담론 형상화의 비미학- 이청준의 「꽃과 뱀」·「꽃과 소리」를 중심으로 -

Abstract

Lee Chung Jun’s 「Flowers and a snake」·「Flowers and Sound」were published in different magazines at the interval of one month in the same year(1969), and these two novels sharing same characters and spatial background of fake(artificial) flowers shop. These two novels capture the unstable signs of the contemporary system in the 1960’s when the Korean capitalist system began to reveal contradictions. Especially, aesthetic modernity based on modernism style is prominent, and the search for the way of life is narrated through the idea. The novels shaped the perception that the reality of the time was unreasonable and contradictory and the idea derived from the process of reasoning about it. In chapter 2 focus on 「Flowers and a Snake」, I analyze the social and political modernity disguised as a culture which was represented as fake flowers and the ambivalence of the wildness and vitality of the snake implied death that cracked the firm system. In chapter 3 focus on 「Flowers and Sound」, I look at the power and authority that governed the way of life. The fact that those who were represented by sounds such as a taffy seller, tofu seller and cleaners enslaved people to the sounds shows the essential weight of life for survival and maintenance of everyday life. But, the problem was that the power to clone the cultural life represented by fake flowers was a non-essential desire schemed by the consumption-oriented society that produced surplus value according to the logic of capital. Chapter 4 focus on the importance of events that wanted to crack the fictional simularce that eliminated substance. Cloned fake flowers become a signpost and changed substances. Because of this, the boundaries between reality and fabrication were bound to be blurred. I analyze that Lee Chung Jun exercised negativity of injustice to reveal the truth that literature could capture at the boundary under this situation.
