이 글은 ‘-(으)ㄹ까 하-/싶-/보-’ 구성에서, ‘-(으)ㄹ까’에 어울린 ‘하-’, ‘싶-’, ‘보-’가 어떤 의미를 지니고 있는지, 문장에서 통용해서 쓸 수 있는 경우는 언제인지 등에 관심 갖고 연구해 보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 먼저, 의문종결형 ‘-(으)ㄹ까’ 뒤에 쓰인 ‘하-’, ‘싶-’, ‘보-’가 각각 어떤 용언인지 살피고 ‘-(으)ㄹ까 하-/싶-/보-’ 구성은 어떤 통사적 특성을 지니는지 살폈다. 그 뒤 ‘하-’, ‘싶-’, ‘보-’가 이 구성에서 언제 통용이 가능한지를 살펴보았다. ‘하-’는 어휘적 의미가 비었거나 아주 약한 ‘하-’이며, ‘-(으)ㄹ까’에 의한 추측이나 의지·의도의 의미를 드러내는 앞말을 그대로 수용할 뿐이다. ‘싶-’는 앞말을 수용하면서 앞말에다 화자의 기대나 바람, 걱정, 두려움 등과 같은 내면을 싣는다. ‘보-’는 감각동사로, 앞말이 순간적이고 즉흥적인 인식에 의한 것임을 보인다. 추측표현으로 쓰인 ‘-(으)ㄹ까 보-’에는 걱정, 불안과 같은 화자의 내면이 담겨 있다. ‘-(으)ㄹ까 하-/싶-/보-’ 구성은 ‘하-’, ‘싶-’, ‘보-’의 차이로 인해, 그 쓰임이 동일하지 않다. 문맥에서 통용되어 쓰이는 곳도 제한되어 있다. 먼저 의미적 측면에서 보면, 추측을 나타내는 문장에서는 그 추측에 걱정이나 두려움이 담겨 있는 경우에만 통용이 가능하다. 의지·의도를 나타내는 문장에서는 마주보고 있는 상대를 향한 의지·의도 표현이 아닌 경우라야 통용해서 쓸 수 있다. 다음, 통사적 측면이다. 추측의 의미를 지닌 문장에서는 ‘-(으)ㄹ까 해(서)/ 싶(어)/ 봐(서)’와 같은 구성으로 두 문장의 사이에서, 의지·의도의 의미를 지닌 문장에서는 ‘-(으)ㄹ까 해(요)/ 싶어(요)/ 봐(요)’와 같은 구성으로 문장의 끝에서 통용이 된다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the meanings of “ha-”, “sip-”, and “bo-” that are matched with “-(eu)lkka” in the sentence construction of “-(eu)lkka ha-/sip-/bo-”, and the occasions that allow their common use in sentences. To this end, the respective meanings of the predicates “ha-”, “sip-”, and bo-”, which are used behind the interrogative final ending “-(eu)lkka”, and the respective syntactical characteristics of the sentence construction of -(eu)lkka ha-/sip-/bo-” were examined. In addition, specific occasions that allow the common use of “ha-”, “sip-”, and bo-” in this structure were identified. “ha-” has a very weak lexical meaning, and thus literally accepts and reflects the preceding words to which “-(eu)lkka” provides the meaning of a conjecture, will, or intention. “sip-” adds the speaker’s inner feelings such as anticipation, hope, concern, and fear to the preceding words while accepting and reflecting them. As a sensory verb, “bo-” shows that the preceding words are from instantaneous and spontaneous recognition. “-(eu)lkka bo-”, which is used as a conjectural expression, contains the speaker’s inner feelings such as concern and anxiety. The common use of the sentence construction of “-(eu)lkka ha-/sip-/bo-” is limited to certain contexts due to differences in the use of “ha-”, “sip-”, and “bo-”. First, the lexical meanings of its preceding words make a difference. The construction can be commonly used if sentences with a conjectural meaning contain a feeling of concern or fear. Second, if sentences that show a person’s will or intention do not express the will or intention toward a counterpart that the person faces, the construction can be commonly used. Finally, a syntactic aspect should be considered. In a sentence with a conjectural meaning, the construction can be commonly used between its two parts in the form of “-(eu)lkka hae(seo)/sipeo(seo)/bwa(seo)”. In a sentence that shows one’s will or intention, the construction can be commonly used at the end of the sentence in the form of “-(eu)lkka hae(yo)/sipeo(yo)/bwa(yo)”.
