Abstract
Recent research finds that individual investors are inclined toward behavioral biases and they make trading mistakes in the international financial markets. This study considers the extent to which Korean investors in KOSDAQ market make irrational trading decisions and exhibit behavioral biases. These cognitive errors are forms of heuristic simplication, which stem from the brain’s tendency to make mental shortcuts rather than engaging in longer analytical processing. In this study, we examine disposition effect of KOSDAQ investors to use Grinblatt & Han(2005)’s theoretical model and Fama-MacBeth(1973)’s cross sectional regressions. Empirically, a behavioral variable explains the cross sectional characteristic of weekly KOSDAQ stock returns. Controlling of the firm size and time period, disposition variable still has predictability for the cross section of returns.
