해외진출 국내 정보통신 중소기업의 기업 및 기업가 특성이 매출성장에 미치는 효과에 관한 연구

초록

국내외적으로 중소기업의 해외직접투자가 활발히 추진되고 있으나, 중소기업해외직접투자에 관한 연구는 아직까지 활발히 전개되지 못하고 있다. 특히, 신규기업으로서의 어려움, 중소기업으로서의 어려움, 그리고 외국기업으로서의 어려움에도 불구하고 중소기업이 해외시장진출에 적극적인 이유가 무엇이며, 해외진출한 중소기업 중에서도 경영성과가 차이를 보이는 이유가 무엇인지를 설명하지못하고 있다. 본 연구는 이와 같은 배경 하에서 보유자원의 한계에도 불구하고 해외진출한중소기업 간에 경영성과에 차이를 보이는 이유를 국내 정보통신 중소기업을 대상으로 실증적으로 살펴보았다. 특히 본 연구에서는 해외직접투자한 중소기업의 경영성과의 차이를 진출한 중소기업의 기업 및 기업가 특성에 초점을 맞추어 자원기반이론, 동태적역량이론, 기업가정신이론 관점에서 살펴보았다. 실증분석결과 해외진출한 국내정보통신 중소기업의 경우 현지시장에서 매출성장에 미치는 영향요인중 기업특성으로는 해외진출 중소기업이 보유한 자원의 크기보다는 급변하는 환경 속에서 자원을 활용할 수 있는 동태적역량이 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 해외진출 중소기업의 기업가 특성으로는 해외진출 중소기업의 위험추구성이 클수록 해외매출성장도 높아지는 것으로 나타났다.

Abstract

Greater engagement of small firms with international markets has attracted strong interest in international business. Drawing on the dynamic capabilities perspective, resource-based view and entrepreneurship orientation, this paper seeks to further understanding of international Korean SMEs operation in information and communications technology industry. This study explores factors influencing the performance of international Korean small information and communications technology firms. This study proposed that high levels of entrepreneurial orientation, Dynamic capabilities and VERI Resources are positively related to international Korean SMEs business performance. The results show that entrepreneurial orientation and dynamic capabilities have positive impact on international korean SME performance. However, the results indicated no main effect of VARI Resource on firm performance.
