수입관세로 인한 기업 및 산업 생산성 변화 분석: 중국 제조업 기업 데이터를 중심으로

초록

본 연구는 중국의 수입관세율이 중국 기업과 산업의 생산성에 미친 효과를 분석하였다. 1998년부터 2014년까지 중국 제조업 기업의 데이터와 Olley and Pakes(1996)가 제안한 2단계 추정법을 이용하여 생산함수를 추정하고 총요소생산성을 구축하였다. 이를 토대로 중국의 수입관세율이 중국 기업 및 산업의 총요소생산성에 미친 효과를 분석하였다. 분석결과에 따르면 중국의 관세율은 중국 기업의 총요소생산성과 양(+)의 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 중국 산업의 생산성과는 음(-)의 관계가 있는 것으로 나타나서 무역자유화로 인하여 경쟁력이 있는 기업으로 자원재배분이 발생하여 산업생산성이 증대되는 것으로 분석되었다.

Abstract

This study analyze the effect of China’s import tariff rates on the productivity of Chinese firms and industries.The production function is estimated and total factor productivity is established using the Chinese manufacturing firm data from 1998 to 2014 and the two-step estimation method proposed by Olley and Pakes(1996). Based on this total factor productivity, the effect of China's import tariff rates on total factor productivity of Chinese firms and industries is analyzed. According to the analysis result, the tariff rates in China has a positive (+) relationship with the total factor productivity of Chinese firms. However, as it is found to have a negative relationship with the productivity of Chinese industries, it is analyzed that industrial productivity is increased by reallocation of resources to competitive firms due to trade liberalization.
