본 연구는, 한국무역보험공사의 무역보험 기업자료와 통계청의 기업활동조사통계자료를 연계하여, 수출기업의 무역보험 가입여부가 기업 성과에 미치는 영향에 대해 실증 분석을 하였다. 특히 성향점수기법을 사용한 평균처리효과모형을 분석한 결과, 무역보험은 자산수익률이나 매출수익률, 그리고 매출액 성장률 등 경영성과에는 효과가 없었으나, 수출액과 수출비중과 같은 수출실적을 증가시키는 효과가 뚜렷이 발생한 것으로 나타났다. 하지만, 기업의 단기유동성에는 악영향을 주는 것으로 나와, 무역보험의 수출 증가효과가 기업의 단기 재무구조의 악화와 연계되는 현상이 있는 것으로 추론된다. 이는, 무역보험과 경영실적을 포괄적으로 고려한 종합적인 무역금융 정책이 필요하다는 시사점을 제공한다.
Abstract
This study conducts an empirical analysis on the impact of trade insurance on firm performance using the firm-level insurance data. Using the average treatment effect model with propensity score matching, our study reveals that it has a notable positive effect on export volume and export ratio. However, it negatively impacts short-term liquidity, suggesting that the export-boosting effect of trade insurance might be associated with a deterioration in the short-term financial structure of companies.
