Abstract
Internet cyberspace has become a virtual reservoir where vast amount of digital information are being continuously stored. Inside this storage, most of data including personal information(PI) are preserved intact upon being up-loaded by the internet user. Even though most people would have forgotten a certain affair around him/her, Web page(s) never does it. It means that if not to forget is nothing to forgive in digital world. Like that the stupid neither forget nor forgive. At present Facebook has 850 million subscribers. We don't know exactly whether it means permanent evolution or unstable phenomenon. The future expansion of social networking service such as Facebook is unforeseeable. The repercussion of his/her posting pictures and writings links the PI which revealed in youth ages to the personal and social problems. Occasionally this PI makes him/her entrap undesirable business. The cause of the problem is that Web pages have kept PI being used, irrespective of new or old information. The old posting on Web containing PI could bring some negative impacts into one's life. We can see and confirm the loss of privacy for the PI subject. There are some solutions for this problem; newly European Commission proposed right to be forgotten', valid period system of information, reputation bankruptcy, reputation defender, and educational methods. However it is hard to find the study on digital memory and PI in Korea. This article shows that digital memory and PI have legal issues to be solved by interpretative and legislative approaches. I anticipate that new researches will take a step forward on specific areas related PI.
