Abstract
Even though art education has diverse effects on the intuition, sensitivity, and logic of children, relatively, the importance of art education has been neglected. Thus, in order to verify the value of art education, this study analyzed the characteristics of brain mechanism and also researched children's drawings in relation to art education. Based on such contents, the implications of art education based on brain mechanism were drawn. In the results of this study, first, it is the art education with the use of intuition. When children express diverse information received from their own thinking and experience into drawing, the activation of right brain is led to the development of intuition. Second, it is the art education materializing five senses. As children feel limited to explain the materialized image with language, it is realized as drawing. Third, it is the art education to carefully observe objects. When Picasso was young, he only drew pigeons' feet. The continuous observation of a single object in childhood was the driving force for him to be able to draw paintings without models after becoming an adult. Fourth, it is the art education for skillful sketch. There have been many study results verifying that drawing the perceived form is mostly the function of right brain. Fifth, it is the voluntary drawing art education for children. As children's voluntary drawings express their own experiences or interested subjects, they could be used for understanding their thinking. Sixth, it is the art education considering the surrounding environment. Such tasks created by children and images described by them are influenced by beautiful surrounding environment. Seventh, it is the art education for the cooperation between left and right brains. In case of children with a superior propensity for language, it would be necessary to develop the visual thinking through art for the development of visualization ability. When the abilities of right and left brains are harmoniously handled, finally, people in the world could be persuaded by greatly discovering ideas.
