초록

These days, Ballroom dance and DanceSport programs are emerging more within higher education. Thus, this qualitative research is conducted on the development of the Ballroom dance and DanceSport teaching methods and materials in the context of the S University students in Seoul. This study specifically aims at the development of the Rumba movement based on Tendu and Infinity Somatic Exercise System (ISES) which is developed based on LMA and BF by SeHyoung Jang. The result of this research showed that the participants’fundamentals of Rumba movements could be increased by the quality of Tendu and ISES in a safe and aesthetic matter. Therefore, Ballet Tendu and ISES are beneficial for the fundamentals of Rumba movement which is forward walk, backward walk, and side walk, as well as in place weight shift movement. However, care should be taken when using this study to generalize to the diverse population due to the limitation of participants. This study identified three key factors to be encouraged to allow the productivity and fruitful development of the fundamentals of Rumba movements. These factors are: foundation of movement of Ballet with ISES and Rumba, characteristics of Ballet Tendu and Rumba, and elevation of aesthetic division. Among the three, Ballet, ISES, and Rumba, are unique movement techniques that are developed in individual areas, and in this study, a correlation between the three types of movement was able to be studied. Thus, presented teaching methods and materials in this study can be a guideline of teaching and learning in the higher education classroom as a reference material.
