최고경영자의 기업가정신이 기업 성과에 미치는 영향: '마이다스아이티 (MIDASIT)' 사례의 성공요인

초록

본 연구는 기업의 토대가 되는 최고경영자의 기업가정신을 기반으로 한 경영활동의 중요성을 마이다스아이티의 성공사례를 통해서 시사점을 찾고자 하는데 목적이 있다. Schumpeter(1934)의 연구로부터 시작된 기업가정신은 벤처기업의 활성화와 더불어 적극적으로 연구가 진행되었다. 최근 강조되고 있는 기업의 성공과 기업가정신에 대한 연구의 필요성은 최고경영자의 역할이 전략적 계획 및 시행, 의사결정, 조직문화 형성 등 조직전반에 걸쳐 영향을 미치고 있고 최고경영자가 지닌 아이디어와 기술에 대한 의존도는 절대적으로 높아, 기업가정신이 조직전체에 미치는 영향과 성과에 있어서 매우 중요하다고 할 수 있다 (Baron & Shane, 2005; Nahavandi, 1997). 이러한 맥락에서 본 연구는 변화하는 환경에 대처하는 경영자의 능력은 절대적으로 중요하며, 경영자의 유연한 대처능력과 경영철학은 경영자의 기업가정신의 틀을 마련하는 원동력이며 또한 기업의 성과로 이어지는지에 대한 질문을 하고자 한다. 기업가정신과 기업 역량이 선 순환적 시스템으로 작용될 때 기업의 성과와 장기적 성장 가능성을 추측해 볼 수 있을 것으로 생각한다. 본 연구를 통해 기업가정신의 중요성을 재조명하였으며, 기업 최고경영자의 리더십과 기업가정신에 따라 기업의 성공여부가 달라질 수 있고, 특히 조직구성원들에게 지속적으로 새로운 기술을 습득하도록 동기를 부여하는데 큰 역할을 한다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 마이다스아이티 가치 중심 경영 체계를 살펴봄으로써 기업가정신이 경영전반에 어떻게 연계되고 있는지에 대해 탐색하였다.

Abstract

This study examines the importance of entrepreneurship of the CEO of MIDASIT, in Korea. Derived from Schumpeter(1934)’s research on entrepreneurship, the theme has been progressed with great interest. The need to study further on the entrepreneurship and the success of the organization has identified as importance on the role of the CEO, and CEO’s influence on strategic planning, implementation, decision making, and organizational culture. In particular, dependence on CEO’s idea and skill has been highly recognised to influence on overall management functions (Baron & Shane, 2005; Nahavandi, 1997). Taken from this view, this research would like to identify the importance of CEO’s effort, agility, management philosophy, and entrepreneurship as a means of gaining competitiveness in turbulent business environment. In other words, virtuous cycle of entrepreneurship and organizational competency can be predicted to create organization’s competitiveness and substantiality. Through literature review, this paper describes the entrepreneurship as a basis of organization’s competency before presenting the MIDASIT (MIDAS Information Technology Co., Ltd) case. This paper illustrates MIDASIT’s effort of implementing entrepreneurship in company strategy, culture, and human resource management practices. This research also presents an leadership which is practiced through emphasizing naturalism and humanism in case company. In the conclusion, findings from the case and further suggestions are presented.
