Abstract
This study analyzed the organizational identity of Samsung Electronics through relationship between professed organizational identity and identities among various businesses. Samsung Electronics is a representative company in Korea. Records and documents related with Samsung Electronics are accumulated. Therefore, this study conducted the organizational identity of Samsung Electronics through related literatures. Samsung Electronics was not able to establish a definite organizational identity as an OEM company for home appliances until the early 1980s since it was founded in 1969. But it became a global company rapidly in the semiconductor industry from the late 1980s. Thereby Samsung Electronics has formed strong organizational identity. Samsung Electronics has become a global leader by spreading its identity not only in semiconductors but also in related digital industries such as LCD, smart phones, and digital TV businesses. The results of this study will provide meaningful implications for managers of Korean companies.
