Abstract
First, it is considered that the 2nd Amitabha Buddha statue enshrined in Samgyeongsa was built by Beopjong or Seungho, Beopjong sect along with the 1st Amitabha Buddha statue of Samgyeongsa. Second, iconography features are similar to the 1st Amitabha Buddha statue, similar to the head, face, upper body, lower body, and garment method, and the iconography form such as Suin of Hapumjungsaengin and the expected period of the record of Amitabha is also regarded as the Amitabha Buddha statue along with the 1st Amitabha Buddha statue. Third, proportional composition is similar to the 1st Amitabha Buddha statue by Beopjong in 1708, or to the Buddha statue of Shinheungsa in 1711, so the compositional date of this Buddha statue (ⅡⅡ) can be seen around year 1710. Lastly, some Buddha statue inside contents, such as Beophwagyeng, crystal ball, 5 bobyeong, Huryeongtong, etc., which are predicted to be part of the record of foundation, have been remained, and with many of the preceding implications, this Buddha statue is considered to have significant meanings in the history of sculpture in later Joseon.
