본 연구는 대학생 유권자들에 의한 텔레비전 매체의 단순이용과 주의 깊은 이용이 인구통계학적 변인들(성별, 소득, 학년)과 다른 매체들(신문, 뉴스웹)의 영향을 통제한 후에도 노무현 대통령에 대한 이미지 변인 예측에 유의미하게 작용하는지를 고찰했다. 분석 결과에 따르면, 공중파 텔레비전 시사토론 프로그램의 주의 깊은 시청은 인구통계학적 변인, 신문, 인터넷 등의 영향을 통제한 후에도 노무현 대통령에 대한 대학생들의 이미지 예측에 있어 유의미한 긍정적 변인으로 작용하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 정치관련 뉴스 웹의 주의 깊은 이용도 노대통령에 대한 이미지 예측에 있어 유의미한 변인으로 작용하는 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 텔레비전 시사토론 프로그램의 단순시청, 텔레비전 뉴스와 뉴스전문 텔레비전 채널의 단순 시청과 주의 깊은 시청은 유의미한 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 대학생들의 정치관련 뉴스 웹의 단순이용, 정치관련 신문기사의 단순 이용과 주의 깊은 이용 역시 노무현 대통령에 대한 이미지 변인을 예측하는데 있어 유의미한 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났다.
Abstract
This study analyzed whether university students’ simple and attentive uses of television significantly contribute to predicting president Roh Moo-Hyun’s image among the respondents even after controlling the influences of demographic variables(sex, family income, years of schooling), newspapers, and news Web. According to the analysis, attentive use of television’s discussion programs significantly contributed to predicting president Roh Moo-Hyun’s image even after controlling the influences of demographic variables, newspapers, and the Internet. Also, attentive use of political news Web significantly contributed to predicting president Roh Moo-Hyun’s image variable. However, simple use of television discussion programs, simple and attentive uses of television news and news-oriented television channels did not significantly contributed to predicting president Roh Moo-Hyun’s image variable. Furthermore, university students’ simple use of political news Web and simple and attentive uses of political newspapers articles did not significantly contributed to predicting president Roh Moo-Hyun’s image among the respondents.
