Abstract
In this paper, we used Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey (GOMS) made by Korean Employment Information Service to analyze the characteristics of individuals who emigrated from the Non-Seoul Metropolitan Areal area(NSMA) to the Seoul Metropolitan Area(SMA). The outflow of high school graduates in NSMA to the SMA occurs through two channels such as purposes of entering the university and getting a job. To analyze the dominant factor of the outflow of high school graduates, it needs to confirm that the outflow of getting a job has relation to the one of entering the university. We find that the individuals who experienced accumulating human capital during their university years have a higher tendency to leak from the NSMA to the SMA. Second, graduates from four-year universities tend to outflow from the NSMA to the SMA than those who graduated from the college of education and two-three-year colleges. Third, the graduates who graduated from the universities in the SMA generally tend to stay in the SMA and seek jobs regardless of gender. For this, it expects that the outflow of getting a job has a link to the one of entering the university. Of those graduates, women relatively have lower mobility for their occupation than men. This result is caused by high-educated women with a strong preference for metropolitan cities.
