《의성김씨 학봉 김성일가 언간》에 나타난 복식명 연구

이 글은 《의성김씨 학봉 김성일가 언간》을 대상으로 하여 어떤 복식명(服飾名)이 나타나는지 살펴보고, 그 복식명들 간의 관계와 변화에 어떤 특징이 있는지 고찰한 것이다. 연구의 대상으로 삼은 《의성김씨 학봉 김성일가 언간》은 김진화와 그의 부인 여강이씨, 그리고 며느리 진성이씨 등이 주고받은 한글편지 167건이다. 이 언간은 지금까지 공개된 한글편지 중에서 단일 가문의 편지로는 가장 건수가 많고, 한정된 시기에 한정된 인물들 간에 오고 간 편지로 자료의 밀집도가 높을 뿐 아니라 편지의 내용도 매우 풍부해서 복식명 연구에 매우 적합한 자료이다. 또 언간에 나타난 복식명은 조선시대 일상생활에서 실제 언간의 발신자와 수신자 사이의 소통을 위해 사용되었던 생생한 이름이라는 점에서 의미가 있다. 이 글에서는 이 언간에 나타난 복식명의 목록을 정리하고, 그 복식명들을 그 의미와 어휘관계가 잘 드러나도록 분류해 보았다. 또 이 언간에 반영된 복식명 중에서 경북 안동 지역의 방언형이나 유의어의 변화를 확인할 수 있었고, 다른 복식 관련 문헌에는 등장하는 한자어 복식명이 아니라 고유어 위주의 복식명이 나타난다는 특징도 살펴볼 수 있었다. 그리고 복식명 중에는 현대에 이르기까지도 형태 변화를 거의 겪지 않고 그대로 쓰이는 것이 있는가 하면, 그 의미 영역이 달라진 경우도 있었다. 또 요즘 잘 쓰지 않아서 사라진 것도 있고, 다른 새로운 어휘로 대체된 것들도 있다. 이런 과정에서 기존 국어사전에서 보완되어야 할 부분이나 되살려 쓰면 좋을 우리 고유어 복식명들도 확인할 수 있었다.
Abstract
This study analyzed the names of costume in 《Eeongan by Kim Seong il of the Kim's of Uiseong》 and studied relations between the names of costume and a change in them. The study subject 《Eeongan by Kim Seong il of the Kim's of Uiseong》 had 167 letters written in Korean, which were exchanged among Kim Jin-Hwa, his wife the Yis of Yeogang and his daughter-in-law the Yis of Jinseong. Eeongan(letters written in Korean) has the most number of single family letters among released Korean letters. In addition, they are proper materials to study the names of costume as they not only had high density of data as letters exchanged between limited people during the limited period, but also had various contents. Furthermore, the names of costume in Eeongan had a significance as they were actually used to communicate between senders and receivers of Eeongan in daily lives during the Joseon dynasty. This study organized a list of the names of costume in the Eeongan and categorized the names of costume in order to show their meanings and lexical relations. In addition, the names of costume in the Eeongan had dialect of Gyeongbuk Andong region and many of them were in native tongue unlike other related literature which had a lot of names of costume in Chinese characters. Among the names of costume, some have been still used without changing their forms until modern times while others have been reduced in the range of meaning. Moreover, some disappeared as a result of competition with their synonyms while others were replaced with new words. During this process, this study found what should be supplemented in Korean dictionaries, and the names of costume in native tongue that would be good to be revived.
