Abstract
This paper focuses and analyzes on two specific issues associated with the SME scope. One is to investigate whether the SME(Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise) share in manufacturing industry has a positive effect on the employment growth of manufacturing industry. And anther is to find the specific firm scales which have a positive effect on the employment growth in overall manufacturing. Based on the empirical analysis using 1993-2011, a SME share in manufacturing industry has a negative effect on the employment growth in manufacturing industry. It implies that a SME policy based on a current standard regarding to the SME scope has had a rather negative effect on the employment growth. Also, the share of relatively small firm has a positive effect on the employment growth of manufacturing industry. It implies that the efficiency of SME policy will be improved when it focuses on small business rather than mid-sized business.
