Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics of the distribution of the vulnerable in population-decreasing areas and to suggest future policy directions. For this purpose, spatial concentration and separation indices suggested in previous studies were applied. The results of applying various indices that can observe spatial distribution characteristics are as follows. The distribution of the vulnerable in these depopulation areas was found to be more severe than those in non-depopulation areas. Our results of this study imply that the pattern of population decline in depopulation area are related to the distribution of the vulnerable, resulting in a worsening of socioeconomic conditions. Based on these results, future policy directions are presented.
