융합예술교육의 활성화 방안 고찰- NYU IMPACT 사례를 중심으로

Abstract

Convergence art education is one of the art educational methods that has been formed based on historical developments of arts. It uses technology as the core element and collaborates with multi-disciplinary arts, including music, dance, theater, visual art, media art, and etc. Through the creative process of making art, convergence art education provides a holistic education that helps to improve the well-balanced cognitive, affective, and social development of the learners. Based on the reflections of the significance of convergence arts education and convergence education for gifted in arts, this study takes the NYU IMPACT program in the US as representative examples of convergence arts education. In this study, the outline of the program, development background and transformation process, program schedules and its operation, as well as its impact and educational effect were discussed. In addition, as a domestic application case of IMPACT, the implications will be summarized through each training schedule and SWOT analysis for the case of general liberal arts courses at university and Kids IMPACT program. Based on the conclusions of this study, the domestic revitalization plan of the IMPACT program was proposed as a model for convergence arts education. The plan to implement IMPACT to domestic field involves establishing and modulating advanced courses (incubation) for art majors who have completed basic workshops, creating curriculum for faculty training, standardizing evaluation according to different ages and levels, and managing programs. In conclusion, a review of the general concept of convergence art education, the structure and nature of IMPACT, and an analysis of two different programs will present new study guidelines and suggestions on convergence art education for creatively gifted children. A further study will be followed on creating practical educational modules for convergence art education for creatively gifted children.
