Abstract

This research is to bring light on the art world of the Korean traditional Dancer, Kwon, Myong-wha as the ninth Intangible Cultural Asset of Daegu Metropolitan City. For the purpose of this research, investigative reports, publications, and papers of cultural assets related to 'Kwon Myongwha`s Salpuri' Dance were examined primarily. Secondly, it was based on the interview with Kwon, Myongwha. Thirdly the memories of Cho, Eun-hee, the initiator of 'Kwon, Myongwha`s Salpury' and the first daughter of Kwon, Myongwha were gathered. As the first step, What the motive for the introduction to the Korean traditional dance is was studied. Then, the history of Kwon Myongwha was divided into two and studied. The life-story of Kwon Myongwha in the period from the first Dance lesson by 'Park, Jihong'-Kwon, Mongwha`s Dance Master, to the time when Kwon, Myongwha was designated as the ninth intangible cultural asset of the Daegu Metropolitan City is the first period. The life of Kwon, Myongwha after the designation as the cultural asset is the two. The last step is the study about the effects of Kwon, Myongwha to the Korean traditional dance world and her artistic characters. As a result, it was revealed that Kwon, Myongwha Salpuri Dance has elements of the harmonies between the character of 'Honam Dance' and the beauties of 'Youngman Dance'. She has tried to nurture the Korean traditional Dance. Her life itself was contributed to the development of the Korean traditional Dance.
