진주지역 대학 무용교육의 양상과 의의

Abstract

The paper aims to examine the nature, evolution, and development of dance education in universities in the Jinju area, as well as its relevance and influence on the neighbourhood dance scene. The data was gathered through interviews with university professors and a review of the curricula at the three universities in the Jinju area that provided dance education. The study's time frame spans from 1963, the year that university education in the Jinju region began, to 2016, when the processes of stabilisation and transformation were clearly visible. The Departments of Physical Education and Folk Dance at Gyeongsang National University, the Department of Physical Education at Chinju National University of Education, and the Department of Social Sports at the International University of Korea all offer dance instruction in the Jinju area. Students that attended these universities for their dance programme have been involved in dance troupes, physical education teaching, academy teaching, and the in the member of the Association in Intangible Cultural Heritage. Through the characteristics of dance education in the Jinju region's universities, the impact of university dance education on the development of the local dance community can be summarized as nurturing professional dancers, growth of local artists, and education and activities with regional uniqueness. Despite the significant impact of university dance teaching on the local community, the current situation of university dance education in the Jinju area is shrinking due to the phenomenon of metropolitan area concentration of university education, hierarchization, and universalism in employment rates.
