바울이 로마서에서 제시하는 예수 그리스도는 이사야서에 기록된 그 종의 역할을 감당한다. 예수 그리스도는 “할례의 추종자”(διάκονος)이시며, 하나님의 언약을 성취하신다. 또한 그 종은 이사야 53장의 고난 받는 종으로서 그 죽음과 부활을 통해서 자기 백성을 의롭게 하시는 분이시다(롬 3:25). 그는 대제사장으로서 열방에 피를 뿌리고 대속의 역할을 감당하는 속죄제물로서 그려진다. 바울의 제사장적 사역은 유일한 그리스도의 대제사장적 사역과 비교할 수는 없지만, 그리스도께서 섬기는 언약의 성취를 위해서 제사장 역할을 감당하는 그분의 일꾼으로서 복음을 전파하는 사역을 감당한다. 바울은 갈라디아서에서 “그러나 내 어머니의 태로부터 나를 택정하시고(ἀφορίζω) 그의 은혜로 나를 부르신 이가”(갈 1:15)라고 구약 성경을 인용한다(사 49:1). 바울은 로마서에서 같은 개념으로 자신의 부르심과 예수 그리스도의 종됨을 설명한다. “예수 그리스도의 종 바울은 사도로 부르심을 받아 하나님의 복음을 위하여 택정함을 입었으니(ἀφορίζω).” 바울은 이사야의 그 종인 그리스도 예수의 종으로서 예수 그리스도께서 섬기는 하나님의 구속의 경륜을 섬기는 역할을 감당한다. 그 역할을 바울은 제사장(ἱερουργέω)으로서(롬 15:16), 좋은 소식을 전하는(ἱερουργέω) 자로서(롬 10:15), 성도를 섬기는(διακονέω) 자로서 이해한다(롬 15:25). 바울은 종으로서 자신의 섬김이 하나님의 구속의 경륜을 성취하는 예수 그리스도의 섬김을 이어가고 있다는 이해를 하고 있다.
Abstract
The Jesus Christ that Paul presents in Romans fulfills the role of the servant in Isaiah. Jesus Christ is “a servant of to the circumcised”(διάκονος), fulfilling God's covenant. He is also the Suffering Servant of Isaiah 53, justifying his people through his death and resurrection (Romans 3:25; 4:25). As a high priest, he is pictured as a sin offering whose blood is sprinkled on all the nations and fulfills the role of ransom. Paul's priestly ministry is not comparable to the high priestly ministry of the one and only Christ, but he is His laborer in the fulfillment of the covenant Christ serves, preaching the gospel as a priest. In Galatians, Paul quotes the Old Testament, “But he who chose (ἀφορίζω) me from my mother's womb and called me by his grace”(Gal. 1:15), quoting Isaiah 49:1. Paul uses the same concept in Romans to explain his calling and servitude to Jesus Christ. “Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, set apart (ἀφορίζω) for the gospel of God.” As a servant of Christ Jesus, the servant of Isaiah, Paul fulfills the role of serving God's redemptive economy that Jesus Christ serves. That role is understood by Paul as a priest (ἱερουργέω, 15:16), as a bearer of good news (ἱερουργέω, Romans 10:15), and as a minister of the saints (διακονέω, 15:25). Paul's understanding is that his service as a servant continues the service of Jesus Christ in fulfilling God's redemptive plan.
