Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of participation in aquatic exercise on the self-esteem of disabled people with hemiplegia. The subjects in this study were 61 disabled people with hemiplegia who were at the age of 20 and up and used a welfare agency for the disabled in the city of K. After a survey was conducted, one-way ANOVA and crosstabs were utilized to see if their demographic characteristics made any differences to the form of participation and self-esteem, and LSD was employed to make a post-hoc analysis. The findings of the study were as follows(p<.05): First, as for the impact of demographic variables on the form of participation, they were significantly different in that aspect just according to academic credential. Second, in regard to the influence of demographic variables on self- esteem, they differed significantly only with the grade of disability. Third, concerning the impact of the form of participation on self- esteem, the form of participation made a significant difference. Those who got aquatic exercise were self-esteemed the best.
