Abstract
Emotions are a very necessary factor in adaptation because they affect thinking and behavior, and childhood is an important period in which emotion regulation ability, which is the basis for future adaptation, is developed. Humans experience various emotions in their lives, and they try to maintain a positive emotional state if possible. The purpose of this study is to examine the meaning of emotion and to find a basic method that can be used in the fields of counseling, and psychotherapy through the review of previous studies related to emotion regulation. As a result of the review of previous studies related to emotion, emotion regulation, and the process model of emotion regulation, it is expected that practical methods based on the developed existing emotion regulation process model can be devised.
