Abstract

This qualitative study explores the therapeutic potential of theme park gardens in alleviating depression and emptiness, focusing on Everland's garden experience design in South Korea. Utilizing researcher observation, secondary data analysis, and the frameworks of Blossom Theory, therapeutic landscaping, and emotional design, this study examines how garden experiences evoke positive emotions and promote psychological restoration. Applying Blossom Theory’s “pause-acceptance-expansion” stages, it reveals how garden design fosters self-acceptance and emotional exchange, thereby mitigating negative emotions. The findings suggest that theme parks can serve as emotional sanctuaries, enhancing brand value. Adopting a non-prescriptive approach, this study conducts an in-depth qualitative analysis, demonstrating how Everland’s design facilitates these stages and contributes to well-being.
