초록
The present study aims to provide a comprehensive examination of otoacoustic emissions (OAEs), including their physiological origin, source mechanisms, classification, measurement, and clinical applications, with a particular focus on transient evoked OAEs (TEOAEs) and distortion product OAEs (DPOAEs). A comprehensive literature search was conducted across major databases to identify relevant peer-reviewed studies. OAEs originate from cochlear outer hair cells, which actively amplify vibrations and emit energy back into the external auditory canal. Click-evoked TEOAEs and tone-evoked DPOAEs exhibit distinctive response patterns. OAEs, as noninvasive and objective indicators of cochlear function, are widely utilized in clinical settings for newborn hearing screening, the diagnosis of sensorineural hearing loss, and the differentiation between cochlear and retrocochlear pathologies. Future research and technological advances could contribute to imprving diagnostic precision and enhancing the quality of patient care.
