도덕교육과 자율성ː자율관 정립의 과제

초록

본 연구는 자율성에 대한 자기통제와 외부영향력으로부터의 독립의 두 준거에 근거하여, 도덕교육 내에 다양한 자율성 개념들을 분석하고, 도덕교육 연구의 과제로서 통합적 덕 교육의 고유한 자율관 정립을 주장하였다. 자율성은 소극적 자유와 적극적 자유의 양 측면을 가지고 있기에, 외부영향력으로부터의 독립뿐 아니라 자기통제를 요구한다. 도덕성 발달이론의 이론적 실천적 한계가 밝혀지며, 외부 영향력으로부터의 독립에 기운 콜버그의 자율성 개념역시 비판하는 대안적 자율관에 대한 연구들이 대두했다. 도덕교육 담론내의 자율관의 다양성은 엄연한 현실이지만 대안적 도덕 교육론을 모색할 때면 간과되어왔다. 자율적 접근의 도덕교육 이론은 물론 사회화 중심의 도덕교육이론들을 통합하려는 노력의 결과로서 통합적 덕 교육론이 등장하였으나, 콜버그의 자율성 개념의 발달을 지향하는 논의를 전개할 뿐 독자적 자율관 정립을 위한 노력이 거의 이루어지고 있지 않다. 통합적 접근이 독자적 이론으로서 완성되기 위해서 그리고 교육의 실제에서 실효를 거두기 위해서는, 통합적 특성을 반영한 자율관이 정립되어야 한다.

Abstract

The Purpose of this Study is to analysis the concept of autonomy in terms of self control as well as independence from alien influence, and then is to suggest the task of establishing the conception of autonomy in the virtue education. Autonomy has both side of negative and positive liberty, also is defined in terms of both of self control and independence from alien influence. Although Kohlberg's conception of autonomy had been considered the definition of autonomy as a typical moral education, had revealed many defects such as a lack of motivation. In spite of many alternatives in the moral education studies, the complexity of the conception of autonomy was neglected in the studies of moral education theory. We need more studies about the concept of autonomy and have to establish the conception of autonomy that reflect the perspective of integrity in the virtue education approach as a alternative of Kohlberg's moral education.
