이 연구는 사회경제적 수준에 따른 교육의 지속적인 불균형을 해소하기 위한 방법의 하나로 사회경제적 수준이 낮은 중학교 학생을 위해 탐구를 경험하고 과학 지식을 습득할 수 있는 프로그램을 1년 동안 실시하였다. 과학에 관심과 재능을 보이는 학생을 교사 추천으로 선발하였다. 물리, 화학을 주로가르쳤으며 자유탐구를 진행하고, 학생들이 학교에서 배우는 교과목에 대한 질문과 개인의 문제를 의논할 수 있도록 멘토를 두었다. 우리의 경험에서얻은 시사점과 문제를 여기에 밝히고 앞으로 프로그램을 개선하는 방안을 제안했다.
Abstract
For resolving the unbalance among education by socioeconomiclevel, we have been offering a program to experience inquiryand acquire scientific knowledge during one year to helpmiddle school students from low socioeconomic family for thelast year. We selected the students based on teacher’srecommendation from student who interested in andexcelled in science. In addition to teaching physics andchemistry, we run a open inquiry and also had mentors whohelped students with school subjects and personal matters. Herewe describe our experience from the program and propose howwe can improve the outcome.
