Abstract
This study developed astronomy education content that applies data science to the classification of Solar System celestial bodies, focusing on dynamical criteria such as orbital eccentricity and semi-major axis. In response to the growing importance of data data literacy as a core competency for the future talent, the content was designed for in- service and pre-service teachers anf for advanced learning activities for secondary school students, and was implemented in Python using Jupyter Notebook. It follows a six-step data science process to foster nine core data literacy competencies. Worksheets guide learners in simple coding, orbital visualization, and statistical analysis, enabling hands-on experience with dynamical classification in a manner similar to authentic astronomical practice. The prototype was validated for orbital prediction accuracy, and a pilot test with Earth science teachers and doctoral students demonstrated its effectiveness for both understanding dynamical classification and supporting teacher professional development. Results confirmed the usefulness of the data-science procedure at each stage of analysis, enhanced understanding of dynamical criteria, and the value of the content as teacher-training material.
