본 연구에서는 해수 탁도를 주제로 하여 TPACK(Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge) 모형에 기반한 STEAM 탐구 활동 자료를 개발하였다.
Abstract
Seawater turbidity plays a crucial role in understanding the biogeochemical processes and environmental changes of the ocean. This study developed a STEAM inquiry activity based on the TPACK (Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge) framework, focusing on the theme of seawater turbidity. Various technologies—including satellite data, field sensor, digital tools, and software—were integrated into an educational context to systematically design learning experiences that enable students to scientifically explore variations in seawater turbidity. The activity guided students to analyze precipitation data to infer heavy rainfall periods and to compare and interpret satellite images before and after rainfall events to investigate changes in turbidity. In addition, a satellite-based turbidity retrieval algorithm was applied to visualize data, and field sensors were used to experimentally examine the factors influencing light transmittance in water. The pilot lesson revealed that students showed high levels of interest and active participation in exploring and interpreting seawater turbidity patterns. Through the analysis of turbidity changes before and after rainfall, students demonstrated improved conceptual understanding of seawater turbidity and enhanced digital inquiry competency. The developed materials were refined through expert review and pilot testing, confirming their applicability to real classroom environments. The proposed inquiry activity is expected to serve as an effective teaching–learning resource in Earth science education, fostering students’ scientific thinking and digital literacy simultaneously.
