창세기 32장 서사 줄거리 분석을 통한 신학적 고찰

창세기 32장은 야곱 서사(창 25:11-36:42)의 핵심 주제인 땅과후손에 관한 하나님의 약속 성취(창 28:10-22) 과정에 자리한다. 본문은 아브라함(창 12:2-3; 15:1-5; 17:1-8; 22:17-18; 26:24) 언약과 이어진 그 약속이 야곱을 향해 적대감에 가득한 에서(창27:41)와의 임박한 만남을 앞둔 야곱이 가진 태도와 상황의 인식을 배경으로 한다. 본 연구에서 창세기 32장 본문 줄거리는 전반부(5절, 10절, 12절)에 있는 은혜 혹은 은총은 후반부(13절, 18절, 20절, 21절)에서 유사한 의미를 반영하는 예물과 반복되어 다른핵심 단어들인 전투 혹은 싸움을 암시하는 단어와 장면인 군대(2 절)와 신적 존재와의 대결 장면(24절)으로 에워싸여 있음을 주목한다. 이와 같은 본문 구성은 서사 줄거리의 주요 인물인 야곱이인간적 간청과 신적 은혜를 구하는 사이에서 갈등을 겪고 있음을 부각하기 위함이며, 이와 같은 본문 줄거리 읽기는 창세기 32장의 여러 에피소드가 특정한 서사 줄거리를 전제하고 있음을 인식하게 한다. 본 연구는 특정한 단어들과 줄거리 등으로 특징지어진 창세기 32장의 서사 줄거리는 하나님이 야곱에게 주신 신적약속을 이어가는 넓은 문맥을 지지하며, 동시에 인식 전환 서사줄거리로 그 신학적 메시지를 강화해 준다는 사실을 논증한다.
Abstract
Genesis 32 is set against the backdrop of the fulfillment of God' promises concerning the land and descendants (Gen.28:10-22), a central theme of the Jacob narrative (Gen.25:11-36:42). The text is set against the backdrop of Jacob's attitudes and situational awareness of the Abrahamic covenant (Gen.12:2-3; 15:1-5; 17:1-8; 22:17-18; 26:24) and its subsequent promises in the face of his impending encounter with Esau (Gen.27:4), who is filled with hostility toward Jacob. In this study, we note that the textual plot of Genesis 32 is organized in such a way that grace or favor emphasized in the first half(vv. 5, 10, 12) is repeated in the second half (vv. 13, 18, 20, 21) with a similar word tribute. The key words are surrounded by words and ideas to suggest hand-to-hand combat: an army (v. 2) and a confrontation with a divine being (v. 24). This textual organization is intended to emphasize that Jacob, the main character of the narrative plot, is torn between human pleading and divine grace-seeking, and this reading of the text's plot recognizes that the various episodes of Genesis 32 are predicated on this particular narrative twist! This study argues that the narrative art of Genesis 32, characterized by specific words and plot points, supports the broader context of God's continuing theocratic promises to Jacob and reinforces its theological message.
