본 연구는 『주역』 수괘(隨卦) ‘따름[隨]’의 바른 이치를 밝히기 위하여 괘사와 효사 등에서 언급하고 있는 주요 개념의 상호 관계성을 고찰하는 것이다. 수괘의 ‘따름’이라는 주제를 중심으로 ‘기쁨’과 ‘움직임’, ‘때’와 ‘바르고 중함[正中]’ 등의 연관성과 의미에 대하여 논의할 것이다. 수괘의 ‘따름’의 동력인 기쁨은 단지 쾌락적 즐거움이 아닌, 바른 도를 실현하는 사람과 때[時]에 대하여 바르고 중[正中]하게 호응하는 감정으로 볼 수 있다. 그리고 ‘따름’의 의미를 좀 더 확충할 수 있도록 『대학』(大學)에서의 ‘따름[從]’과 상통하는 지점과, ‘따름’을 실현하는 이치로서 ‘서(恕)’와 ‘혈구지도(絜矩之道)’ 등을 함께 고찰한다. ‘따름’을 추동하는 ‘기쁨’이라는 감정과 ‘낮춤[下]’의 상호 연관성, 그리고 ‘기쁨’의 중요한 원칙으로 삼을 수 있는 ‘극심연기(極深硏機)’의 의미를 밝히고자 한다. 그리고 마음이 움직여[動] 따르고자 할 때, 가장 중요하게 선행되어야 할 수양의 원칙인 ‘적연부동(寂然不動)’의 의미를 고찰한다. 따르고 움직임에 있어서 매 순간의 ‘선택[擇]’의 기준으로서 ‘때[時]에 맞는 중도(中道)’의 의미와, ‘따름’의 상호성으로서의 ‘본받음[以]’이 갖는 자기 수양적인 의미를 정리한다. 수괘 ‘따름’의 이치에 따라 바르고 중[正中]한 덕으로써 따르면 그 결과 ‘크게 형통함[元亨]’을 얻을 수 있고, ‘‘감이수통(感而遂通)’하여 천하 만물이 존재하는 조건과 원인을 통찰할 수 있음을 고찰한다. 이를 통하여 ‘따름[隨, 從]’은 자기 정체성을 형성하는 과정이자, 동시에 따름의 부류를 구별하여 선택하는 실천적 행위임을 알 수 있다.
Abstract
This study examines the interrelationship between related concepts mentioned in Guaci and Yaoci in order to realize the true nature of compliance suggested in Zhouyi Sui-gua 隨卦. Through the analysis of the Sui-gua, various conceptual relationships and contrasts that can understand the right compliance are reviewed. The connections and important meanings of joy, movement, time, and zhengzhong 正中, which are concepts related to various relationships that show the compliance of the Sui-gua, will be discussed. For this series of analyses, this paper examines the meaning of the Guaxiang, Guaci and Yaoci, and the filial piety of the Sui-gua in detail. Joy, the driving force of compliance, can be seen not only as hedonic pleasure but as an emotion of affirmation and response to the person who realizes the virtue and the time 時 of realization. In addition, in order to further expand the definition of compliance, the point on which the connection is made with compliance in Daxue and also shu 恕 and xiejuzhidao 絜矩之道 in relation to that point will be examined together. In addition to the emotion of joy which is the driving force of compliance, this study aims to discover the correlation with the concept of humility 下 and the connection with jishenyanji 極深硏機, which can be used as an important principle of joy. And the paper also aims to examine the meaning of jiranbudong 寂然不動, the principle of training that should be preceded most importantly when the mind moves and tries to comply. In addition, the meaning of zhongdao 中道 as the key to choice at every moment and the self-discipline meaning of compliance as the reciprocity of imitation when it comes to compliance and movement, will be examined. Through this process, this paper contemplates that turning out very well can be obtained as a result, according to the zhengzhong 正中, so that ganersuitong 感而遂通 can be achieved in a relationship.
