체육 교과 교육학 연구에 있어서 근거 이론적 접근 방법의 활용

체육 교육의 장에서 신체 활동의 경험은 참여 주체의 주관적 체험과 인식에 바탕을 두고 있기때문에 체육 교과 교육학 연구에 있어서 질적 연구의 필요성은 결코 간과될 수 없다. 현재까지 체육학 분야에 있어서 활용되어온 질적 연구 방법으로는 문화기술적 연구(ethnographic study), 사례연구(case study), 담론 분석(discourse analysis), 내용 분석(content analysis) 등 다양한 방법들이활용되어 왔으나, 질적 연구의 한 형태로 근거 이론적 접근 방법의 활용은 매우 미흡한 실정이다. 근거이론의 주요 목적은 실제에서 이론을 발달시켜 가는 과정으로 실체 이론을 개발하는 것이다. 근거이론에서는 이와 같이 주관적인 자료를 수집하여 다소 복잡한 체계적이고 심층적인 분석과정을 거침으로써 그 실체를 이론적으로 공식화하여 결과를 제시한다. 따라서 근거 이론적 접근방법은 신체 활동을 배우고 익히는 주관적 성격이 강한 체육 교과 교육학 연구에 있어서 다양한연구 문제를 규명하고 이에 대한 실체 이론을 정형화하는데 매우 유용한 도구가 될 수 있다. 특히,기존의 연구자가 정립한 이론과 실제 교육 현장에서 수집되는 자료와의 지속적인 비교분석이 중요한 개념이 된다는 점에서 현재 체육 교과 교육학 분야의 문제점으로 대두되고 있는 ‘연구’와‘실제’의 간격을 좁히는 문제와 연구 패러다임의 다각화 문제에 대한 하나의 대안이 될 수 있다. 따라서, 근거 이론적 접근 방법과 같은 다양한 질적 연구 방법을 통해 개인이나 소집단의 특별한경험을 보다 총체적․심층적․체계적으로 규명함으로써 하나의 이론을 정립해가는 노력은 체육 교과교육학 연구 패러다임의 다각화와 함께 학문적 정체성 및 다양성을 더욱 공고히 하는 토대를 제공해줄 수 있다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to promote the applicable possibility and an understanding of the grounded theoretical approach in sport pedagogy studies. In the field of physical education, as the experience of physical activities is based on subjective experience and the perception of the participants (students, physical education teachers, etc.), there are many difficulties and limitations to presenting a quantification of these aspects in the scientific method based on objectivistic paradigms. The main focus of the grounded theory is the development of a substantive theory. Grounded theory adduces theoretically formal results with respect to a matter of substance based on subjective materials (suggested and various evidence through the individual experiential process) by somewhat complicative systematic and deep analytic processes. The grounded theoretic approach can therefore be a very useful implement in physical education studies, which has strong subjective characteristics for identifying the research problem and its formalization of theory. Especially, grounded theory is an alternative for minimizing the gap between 'research' and 'practice' problems in physical education practice. This approach lays the foundation for academic identity and diversity in sport pedagogy studies through the various research methodologies and the development of academic capabilities.
