한국어 기본어휘의 검증에 관한 일고찰 -연세대 한국어학당 <1급단어목록>과의 대조 분석-
A verification of Korean fundamental vocabulary by comparative analysis of level 1 words list of the Korean Language Institute of Yonsei University

The purpose of the study is to review Korean fundamental vocabulary (2,962 content words) from 『The study of Korean fundamental vocabulary』 and from 『Frequency-of-use dictionary of Korean fundamental vocabulary』. In particular, the reliability of fundamental vocabulary is verified by comparing them with list of words used in the field of Korean education. The primary purpose of the study is to verify fundamental vocabulary by comparing it with the data(textbooks, workbooks, lesson plans, or word list) which are utilized in Korean education classroom. The study demonstrates that 72.8% of <level 1 words list> overlapped with <Korean fundamental vocabulary> by comparing <level 1 words list> of the Korean Language Institute of Yonsei University and <Korean fundamental vocabulary>. The result is interesting because those two lists are different in selection process, the object, and the size. Moreover, it shows that <level 1 words list> overlapped the most extensively with <common fundamental vocabulary of Korean textbooks>, followed by <common fundamental vocabulary of Learner's Dictionary of Korean>, and <common fundamental vocabulary of 5 kinds of corpus>. Given my findings demonstrate more significant correlation between <level 1 words list> and the frequency of corpus than between <level 1 words list> and Korean educational material. On the other hand, almost 50% of overlap between <primary Korean fundamental vocabulary> and <level 1 words list> confirms that both of them commonly share the stable fundamental vocabulary. In conclusion, the range of overlap between <Korean fundamental vocabulary> and <level 1 words list> is at least about 50% and at most 72.8% by comparing them. Now <Korean fundamental vocabulary> is supported by the evidence that it is matched with the data from the field of Korean education.
