지방대학 위기의 원인과 대안

Abstract

The gap between local universities and universities in Seoul and metropolitan areas has been widening for the past half century, and in recent years a lot of local universities are being closed. This situation is judged to be due to the failure of the central government's university policy along with the problem of imbalance between Seoul and the metropolitan area and provinces. The government has neglected to adjust the university admission quota, and policies such as out-of-study admissions, half-price tuition, regulation of university tuition, and university subsidies focused on public offerings also accelerated the crisis in local universities. In order to alleviate or prevent the crisis and rapid collapse of local universities, a policy decision at the government level is required. It's by no means a simple problem, but it's not an intractable one either. Since the problems of local universities are closely related to the future of local universities, the crisis of local universities should not be neglected even to prevent future local crises and collapses. The purpose of this study is to analyze the process and causes of crisis, such as the chain closure of local universities, and to suggest policy measures to deal with this problem.
