Abstract

This study explored a Mimicry Projectconducted with undergraduate students in the Department of Game Graphic Design, applying the play theories of Huizinga and Caillois. The students selected game characters of their choice and hand-crafted related items such as weapons, armor, and props, while reenacting major skill motions and signature lines. These activities expanded into both nonverbal and verbal forms of mimicry, fostering voluntary participation and creativity. The process demonstrated that mimicry can move beyond simple imitation to provide immersive and playful learning experiences. Handcraft-based production, social media sharing, and interactive challenges further revealed how play can extend into cultural and educational practices. By integrating the concept of mimicry with established theories of play, this study highlights the pedagogical significance and potential of playful learning in higher education.
